about gallery
The Szara gallery initiated its activity in October 2002. Since then it has presented over forty artists ( e.g. painting, installations, objects, photography, performance). Szara is the space, where and through which many various exchange actions have taken place. It guarantees continuity and fair stability of art functioning.
It was brought to life by the active participants in artistic culture with their knowledge and full awareness of present art conditions. Therefore the gallery is both a field of exchange of thoughts, education and faith in the sense of art products. Holding regular monthly exhibitions, meetings with young people and students, co-operation with academic environment as well as living scholarly and artistic activity of gallery leaders help the gallery to reach its goals.
The gallery has also taken part in Cultural Association “Kontur” (“Outline”) since the beginning of its existence.
It has initiated as well as participated in various artistic projects such as:
-Artistic exchange between the city of Cieszyn and Lucerne (“Breathing” cycle of exhibitions in SwitzerlandPoland) and
-arrangement of the Polish national Festival of Young Art “Strefa Szarej” (“The Szara Zone”)
-project dedicated to the memory of Andrzej Szewczyk “Niosę przed sobą lustro”
-“Two cities, two Universities” photographic project in co-operation with the Magna gallery in Ostrava
